Sundevils Going to Fresno

The Sundevils ran big at the CIF Section Championships and Masters meet last Saturday at MC. We qualified 5 individuals and one relay team for the Fresno meet this weekend.

Brandon Ford was the D-1 CIF champ for the 2nd straight year in the HJ. Jacob Wood set a school record in the 3200 and qualified 2nd. Erin Menefee qualified 2nd in the 1600 (another school record) and third in the 3200. Alex Allen was 3rd in the 300 Hurdles.

Last but not least the 4 x 400 of Alexis Hernandez, Lindsey Valdez, Lauren Hall, and Alex Parks got second in the race to also qualify for state.

In addition to the above we competed very well throughout the day. We medaled in the 4 x 100, Andrew Gaston in the discus, Lauren Hall in the 800, and David Vasko in the 3200. When Kenny James got hurt we were definately affecting in the boys 4 x 400 but the kids ran tough and that is all we can ever ask.

A great day with a great group of kids.

Please accept our most heartfelt thanks to all the parents and volunteers who helped us thoughout the year with anything we needed. You truly are a special group and we are lucky to have such supportive parents.

Looking Ahead

Physicals for the 2010-11 school year will be on Tuesday June 1 at MC starting at 6pm. Cost is $20 and they are good for the whole athletic school year.

Uniform Turn In

Collecting uniforms os part of the team started at the end of the season. Please make sure that the clothes are clean and dry when they are turned in. Thanks for your help.

A Long Term Purchase for the Program

While I have not received the final numbers I know from experience that we did pretty well financially on the ASICS/Mt Carmel Track Invite. With that in mind I approached the MC ASB for some money to make a big purchase and repay it over three years. They approved our request and so next year we will be getting a Finish Lynx Timing System and one new Pole Vault Pit. They will be ordered soon and here for the next season. These are big purchases for our program and many athletes will be affect with the timing system.

With the current state of the economy in California schools we needed to find a creative way to make these pruchases and the ASB was more than helpful. So keep any donations you want to make coming and we can always use the help in the snack bar at CIF

Website Help Request

If there is a parent who does work with Adobe Dreamweaver I would appreciate some assistance. I would like to change some of the site appearance and I am looking to learn more about how to work the program. Just email me if you can help.

Check out the photos parents are taking of the kids at the meets. Links are on the left hand side of the site.

Fundraising for Track & Field

I have attached the letter for our fundraising. To date 97 parents have responded with help, and we have raised less then half our hoped for goal. With 200+ on the team we hope more parents will support their kids. Just for your information the Torrey Pines team members are asked to donate $250 and then they still will need to fundraise.

for the donation letter.

"Team Sweatshirts"

Are still available for $20 at school. Checks can be made to Mt. Carmel Track. Two designs are available. We now two dozen smalls and XL's
